Heaven is Awesome

Is heaven boring? I have a teenager that thought that it was. In heaven, you just sit around for eternity and get bored, bored, bored without end.

Well, I combined something I learned a long time ago from Real Catholic TV (before it changed to Church Militant) and his love of soccer.

When we die, think of it as a snapshot, a moment in time that lasts forever. At the same time, think of how you feel when you play a really important and excruciatingly tough game that you win.

The experience of heaven is like the feeling of winning that game forever. It never goes away like it does on earth with the Church Militant. As a member of the Church Triumphant, we are always in God's presence. We won the game of life through the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus, along with our participation with his work. The game was a killer, but the victory was a miracle beyond understanding. We are teammates of Jesus in His Church. He purchased the grace of forgiveness of our sins through the cross for the heaven win. Heaven is awesome.

Old Meme - New Time

There is an old meme below about the US, before memes were as big as they are now in certain circles.

The northern part of the US and Canada are the United States of Canada and the southern part is Jesusland.

This says so much. This was originally made by those who prefer to be in the red, northern part of the map above. (How unjust is it that Jesus is treated like a shunned man? It reminds me of something...)

The enlightened U.S. Canadians believe that Jesus lovers are freaks, rubes, and backward. In reality it is the reverse. It is the north that want us to progress backward to the time of oligarchs, dependency, and decay (sort of like in Russia, come to think of it).

What I now see on the map above is the Church of Rome and Constantinople on a mission to the hordes of the barbarian North.

(BTW, most of these map memes of Jesusland have PA in the north. This is one of the few that doesn't.)

My Wife Versus the Current Dark Age

What signifies a dark age? An age in which the barbarians overrun a civilization. We are now suffering in such an age in the West. I believe historians will not label our epoch as the information age or space age; this is the real Dark Age.

We have abandoned our Western heritage for Sartreland. We no longer look outside ourselves for Truth that saves but look inward for our little truth that decays, withers, and dies.

My wife has taken this on with most of her time. She is a classical school teacher. Truth, beauty, and goodness through Jesus and His Church are her weapons against the barbarians.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day Movie Shows Happiness is Found in the Truth

***Spoilers Alert!*** Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day was very well written. It had to be since there were dizzying twists and turns that naturally proceeded from webs of lies.

Lies by every main character made them all personally miserable. It all changed when one was entranced by a word of truth (he's pictured above with Miss Pettigrew).

From that one true complement made from the heart of Miss Pettigrew about a beautiful scarf he designed, her life and the lives around her found new life in true (almost non-Hollywood-like) happiness.

Truth changes lives so that one can truly live. The Truth of Jesus' words changes lives in similar ways.

"The Glory of God is a human being fully alive!"

When the Time Has Come Gnostic Lyrics by Huey Lewis and the News

The song When the Time Has Come by Huey Lewis and the News was looked at in two previous posts regarding redemption at the end of the world and Universalism.

In this post, an apparent gnostic idea of the song will be explored.

A portion of the song is this:

Everything's gonna clear up
Everybody cheer up
Walls are gonna crumble
All men will be humble

Feeling getting stronger
Won't be down much longer
We will be free
When the time has come

"We will be free" seems to indicate that at the end of the world, people will cast-off their bodies and be only spirits. This action will lead to a kind-of-freedom. This is a gnostic idea.

Gnosticism under the umbrella of Christianity has been around since the beginning of Christianity (even before the Christian Bible was canonized).

Christianity calls Gnosticism a heresy since Jesus is revealed to be resurrected in a glorified body. The body is not seen to be a prison for the spirit, but a temple of our spirit.We were meant to be embodied souls just like incarnated Jesus, the archetype of humanity.

Conclusion: Since remarriage is a "manifest grave sin", those obstinately persevering in the state are not to be admitted to holy communion.

Corollary: Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the body and blood of the Lord. 1 Corr 11: 27 

When the Time Has Come by Huey Lewis and the News on Redemption Time

So, Huey Lewis and the News has an entire song about their version of the eschaton, or the end of the world (many songs mention it, but briefly). It's "When the Time Has Come".

He mentions in the song that the eschaton is "redemption time". This made me thought of the time when Pope Francis said that everyone including atheists is redeemed by Jesus.

Many people were in an uproar and/or confused about the Pope's pronouncement since most assumed the Church taught that atheists could not enter heaven. Was he supposedly changing another Church teaching? Yet again, the teaching did not change.

All were redeemed by Jesus when he died on the cross. The thing is, for salvation, one has to join with Christ in baptism and carry his or her cross. There has to be a response by the redeemed. Redemption makes salvation possible.

This song by Huey Lewis confuses the matter further by calling the eschaton "redemption time". That time has been completed once and for all.

The Lego Movie's Prophesying by Vitruvius

***Spoilers Alert!*** So, Morgan Freeman's character Vitruvius (accent on "tru"; on the right in the picture below) revealed a prophesy in The Lego Movie that was pretty silly.

Near the end of the movie, Vitruvius said that he made it up. (The specific prophesy of The Lego Movie will be looked at soon; in this post, just the silliness of the telling of the prophesy will be explored briefly.)

Looking to Jesus, there were many prophesies made about him in the Old Testament (Torah and other books). The ancient prophets of his Hebrew (Jewish) community said that there would be a person anointed Savior of Israel, to rule as a son of King David. There were many other prophesies about a new and eternal King of Israel that would deal with the enemies of Israel.

The thing is that if a prophet was found out to be a false prophet, or one who prophesied falsely, according to the Law of Moses (Jewish Law) that prophet should die. (That's one of the reasons that Jesus died, the Israel leadership believed that he was a false prophet.) This is one reason why the Hebrew community took prophesying seriously.

So, prophesying in the Hebrew world was not a light matter. Of course, the Lego world could take Vitruvius' prophesying lightly since they were just plastic who were filmed by stop action cameras (and/or CGI).

The Lego Movie Bad Cop Singing Danny Boy on Saint Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This week, The Lego Movie will be looked at. Yes, there are things to write about it.

For today, I looked for a clip of Liam Neeson singing "Danny Boy" on YouTube (etc.) but couldn't find one.

There's one last thing that I thought was worth noting about the Phantom movie (2013). ***Spoilers Alert!!!*** David Duchovny's character thought his plan to start a war between China and the US would be successful and result in the USSR being the lone super-power of the world. He said that, even though his tactics (means) may be evil, in the end, he would be on the right side of history.

The Christian view is two fold on the "right side of history".

First, God has already won the war against sin and death through the cross and resurrection of Jesus, through Love. The Church is to bring this reality into fruition. All of the Church is commissioned by Christ Himself to gather each member of humanity unto God, through baptism, to save it from sin and death.

Secondly (see this audio at 3:29), there is no right side of history like there's some impersonal force (impersonal judge) involved in shaping creation, sort of like evolution. Instead, since there is personal will and deliberation, people choose to do right or wrong. There is only the right side of the Truth (personal, Divine Judge).

The Truth will be revealed, and it will set us all free.

The Truth set Russia free from Communism. Just ask Pope John Paul II.

Coexist Bumper Sticker Part I

You've probably seen this coexist bumper sticker:

I always wonder if this is a two part question:

1. Is it possible that people who believe this can live side-by-side?
2. Is it possible that these beliefs can coexist together?

Well, the first is possible since it is happening now in America. So what? This doesn't seem to be the main point of the sticker.

The second, seems to be the argument made by the sticker. However, it doesn't make sense. Either, Jesus ...

1. Never died but was assumed into heaven as God's Prophet (as a trick);
2. Died at the hands of Israel's enemy, Rome, as a false prophet, or blasphemer for calling himself the Son of God;
3. Was always/before time part of the Trinity as the Second person therewith, was incarnated, and rose after dying on a Cross.

The last three fundamentals can't coexist.

Now, I've seen this pro-life coexist bumper sticker from Stickervoice.com ...

The question here is, "Can a mother and child really coexist together, the later one inside the former?"

No matter what religion one follows, it seems to be yes in all, the fe/male child is already coexisting in his/her mother.
